about Vertiberry

Strawberry fruit & young plant producers

We at Vertiberry aim to be global strawberry fruit and plant producers for retail, distributors, growers and propagators. Using totally controlled environment agricultural (TCEA) methods, we produce high-quality, residue-free strawberry plants and fruit on demand, year-round, anywhere and regardless of the climate.
our vision and mission

We grow premium strawberries and plants

Our aim is to improve biodiversity by reducing the need for arable land and drastically increasing the nutritional value we produce per square meter of land.

Year-round, on demand

Using TCEA we produce berry plants and fruit year-round, anywhere, anytime.

Berry producer

We produce strawberry plants and berries in North America as well as plants in Europe.

No impact of climate

Growing indoors in a totally controlled environment means that the climate and seasons have no impact on the quality of the plants and fruit we produce.

Ideal conditions

Our plants and berries get the ideal temperature, nutrient supply, light spectrum and more to grow fast and strong.

residue-free

We produce our plants and berries with no pesticides or herbicides, meaning no nasty residue.

High yield

Our production is more than 4x that of a standard greenhouse per square meter of growing surface. And we’re only just getting started.
Our roots

Rooted in Belgium with global ambitions

We have strong roots in Europe and have been researching, conceptualizing and developing our own systems at our HQ in Brussels, Belgium since 2017. In parallel, we are building a strawberry and young plant production facility in Quebec, Canada.

Our strawberries and young plants will be available to retailers and distributors in Quebec, the rest of Canada and on the East Coast of the US from Q1 2025.
from herbs to berries

Growing herbs made us better strawberry growers

While today our focus is on strawberries, we started off with the commercial production of potted herbs. These were sold at a variety of major Belgian and French retailers such as Delhaize, Aveve, Färm and Truffaut between 2018 and 2021.

Launching this commercial production enabled us to quickly gain insights on how to become better growers - we learn by doing. It also led us to the conclusion that we wanted to have a higher impact on food production and food security, thus: strawberries.

Since 2022, our focus has been exclusively on researching and developing the best way to grow strawberries in a totally controlled environment to get the highest yields and tastiest fruit.
our production ethos

Why do we produce fruit and not sell our solutions?

We strongly believe in the vertical integration of technology, know-how and production, from genetics all the way to fruit production. The market is still young and our approach gives us a strong edge to be the most productive grower out there. We also believe in developing our own solutions to support and advance the industry of food production in which we evolve.
